University of Louisville
School of Nursing Inaugural Magazine

Concept to Print.

Role: Editor-in-chief, writer, photographer, art director, project manager

Project Description:
UofL Nursing's first-ever magazine was built from the ground up. A year of stories and photographs, created by me were collected and curated into an annual showpiece celebrating the achievements and perspectives of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community.

I developed the visual direction, selected and wrote the majority of the stories, and shot most the the photography. I designed the cover and back cover, directed the overall layout, and guided the graphic design intern, Kevin Long, through the interior page design. I compiled the distribution list, coordinated with the printer, and managed every moving part from concept through delivery. In addition, managed the distribution campaign across multiple channels, including the Cardinal Nurse Quarterly, a social media campaign, a news announcement on the School of Nursing Website, and internal communications announcements.

The result: a 28-page publication that reached over 6,700 readers directly via print and digital distribution in July 2026.

The equine business department at UofL needed to refresh its image with a series of marketing pieces. Staff would take these pieces to recruitment and informational events to spread awareness about the top-rated equine industry program. The project included redesigning their tired brochure and creating a series of pull-up banners and backdrops to catch the attention of those interested in a career around horses.
As the art director for this project, my approach to the updated brochure was to capture the energetic spirit of the industry. To appropriately capture this spirit, the movement of the graphic needed to intertwine with the passion people have for this industry. Those who pursue a profession in horses must love horses. In the materials, viewers can picture themselves as the subjects of the photos, caring for and receiving affection or glory in association with the horses
The final campaign collection is a stand-out at events, often the setting for posed pictures. With the new imagery, the Equine department has identifiable branding that differentiates it from other programs, garnering the attention and admiration of staff, students, and the community.
